Benzodiazepines, sometimes referred to as “benzos”, are tranquilizer drugs that slow the activity of the central nervous system. Prescribed benzodiazepine medications include Ativan, Valium, Diazepam, and Xanax and can come in tablets, capsules, injections, or suppositories. Slang terms for benzodiazepines include sleepers, tranx, downers, xannies, roofies.
